Authorities in Ocilla, Georgia are searching for missing high school teacher Tara Faye Grinstead. AMW aired this case twice in November of 2005.
In the late evening hours of October 22, 2005, 30-year old Tara Grinstead was last seen at a acquaintances residence helping people with their makeup for a beauty pageant. She failed to appear for church services and her job at a high school the following two days and was reported missing. Her house was locked and her car, clothes she was last seen wearing, cell phone and her two pets were all at her house. A latex glove was found on the front lawn. In her bedroom, authorities found that her alarm clock was broken, some beads were scattered across the floor, a bedpost was damaged and a lampshade was askew. Her car was unlocked which was very uncharacteristic, and the seats were adjusted for a person much taller than Tara.
Her ex-boyfriend Marcus Harper, a former Police Officer was questioned and denied any involvement, they had recently broken off after a six-year relationship. One of Tara's closest friends, Heath Dykes, a married police officer in another community also denied any involvement, despite leaving a business card wedged in Tara's residence's front door along with two dozen phone calls when she disappeared. Two other men, Rhett Roberts, the son of the couple who rented the house as well as 20-year old Anthony Vicker, a former student who developed an obsessive relationship to Tara at one point were also questioned. All of the men cooperated with law enforcement although most of their alibis could not account for the entire time-period in which Tara went missing.
Authorities also considered the fact that Tara could have ran away because of mounting stress in her life, the state of her bedroom, her car being at her house and the latex glove make this rather unlikely. It should be noted that forensic evidence from the latex glove didn't match any of the men authorities have questioned. Authorities are also curious if Tara's disappearance is linked to the January 2006 disappearance of Jennifer Kesse in Orlando, Florida. Aside from the slightly similar distance from Orlando to Ocilla, Georgia and the fact that both women were attractive, there isn't any reason to suspect those cases are linked.
Tara was declared dead in 2010. Any thoughts on this baffling case?
