A Tulsa gang member was charged Monday with first-degree murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a man at a north Tulsa apartment complex earlier this month.
Prosecutors allege that Andre Dion Miles, 34, fatally shot 40-year-old Antwan Donyell Hampton at the Towne Square Apartments, 1607 E. Young Place, on Nov. 6, according to Tulsa County District Court documents.
Miles is a member of the Hoover Crips gang, prosecutors said, but it is unknown whether Hampton was involved in a gang.
Miles is charged with one count of first-degree murder and, according to prosecutors, is suspected of working in concert with another man, whose identity is unknown.
Hampton was pronounced dead at a hospital about 1:30 a.m. Nov. 7, police said. He had been shot multiple times a few hours earlier at the apartments just north of Booker T. Washington High School.
Investigators believe that Hampton was shot outside an upstairs apartment and made his way to the complex’s parking lot, where he collapsed and was found by first responders, police said at the time.
A warrant for Miles' arrest was issued Monday, according to court documents.
Records show that Hampton was convicted of second-degree rape in 2011 and served just over two years in prison. He also was convicted of unlawful delivery of a controlled drug in 1996 and served a nearly three-year prison sentence.
