A vicious attack between two former friends, and the attacker hasn't been seen since.
Charles Wooliver is accused of attacking David Bell with a hammer in August, and that's not the only crime he's running from. Wooliver also has a dangerous past that has police on high alert, looking to capture him sooner rather than later.
9&10's Katie Boomgaard dug deeper to find out where he could be hiding and talked to Bell about the attack.
"Me and Charles, he didn't have no where to stay and it was winter time. He had just gotten out of jail so I figured I was trying to be a nice person and I let him stay in one of the rooms in my basement. That's how we first became friends. I didn't know a lot of his history before that," says David Bell.
A history that unfolded right in front of David Bell's eyes in January 2015. "He stabbed somebody and he ran to my house and the person that he stabbed had told them where I lived at, so the cops came there looking for Charles and he wasn't there," says Bell.
Police found meth inside Bell's garage connected to Charles Wooliver. He spent a couple week's on the run but was caught downstate and charged for the stabbing and drugs. But once he got out of jail, Wooliver attacked again, this time his roommate David Bell, with a hammer to the head. "The doctor said if I would have been hit a couple inches down in the back of my temple, I wouldn't be standing here talking right now," says Bell.
That brutal attack left Bell with 13 staples and his ear almost ripped off. Wooliver ran again, he's been on the run since August. Detective Sergeant Kevin Hansz is with the Michigan State Police Fugitive Task Force in Northern Michigan. Detective Hansz says, "I believe that he may have left and have gone back to Oakland County. But I know that Charles Wooliver has family in this area, he has friends in this area and he has old roommates, acquaintances that may know where he is and who he's staying with down there."
Wooliver faces felonious assault charges and Cadillac Police say he is also accused of breaking into the First Presbyterian Church in October. They say he stole a TV, two laptops, money and checks. They figured out he was the one who stole the items because he tried cashing the checks. "Again, I believe that he is not a stable person and I worry about other people may be being around him and not knowing that he's wanted for a serious charge," says Detective Hansz.
And with this dangerous man on the loose, many are concerned about the innocent people in his path. Bell says, "If he can break into my house and hit me with a hammer, stab someone else, I mean there's no telling what else he could do to somebody else."
Charles Wooliver is wanted for felonious assault, and new charges of breaking and entering, and uttering and publishing. The Fugitive Team believes he could be in Oakland or Wexford County. If you have any details on where he is you're asked to call the Fugitive Tip Line which is 989-705-3808.

Thoughts? They really aren't kidding about Wooliver's criminal history as one of the first things I found when I google searched him was him being charged with making a false bomb threat at a resort at age 17!: www.record-eagle.com/news/local_news/news-in-brief/article_6071e42d-9858-5782-b193-700c380e2bd4.html
While I always root to proven wrong, this looks to be a guy destined to be in and out of prison for the rest of his life. Hopefully he can be apprehended so he can't harm anyone else for the time being.
