Just a hunch, but I am guessing either his brother or son were renting the house out to him (hence the harboring charges). I'm betting when all is said and done it will turn out most of his family knew where he was this whole time.

According to what I have been able to find online, the property at which Yaser was captured was sold in February 2015, about two months after he was added to the FBI most wanted list.

I wonder if he still drove a cab or worked for Lyft or Uber or some livery service during his time on the run. Great capture.

Apparently they just missed him in 2017 as he jumped out a window in Bettors, TX after a maintenence worker spotted him inside an apartment and Yassein refused to cooperate.
And one thing I remember being said about Yaser was he wouldn't necessarily flee to Egypt because he had gotten used to America and comfortable and American-ized. Apparently, that was indeed true and he was just a hypocritical murderous a-hole when it came to his daughters.

I think you meant Bedford, TX and that Islam Said refused to cooperate when the FBI came to the apartment in 2017 according to the article.

Oh I thought the article said Bettford and I was scratching my head going I only heard of Bedford. Either they made a type-o they fixed upon rereading or I need new glasses lol.

And also autocorrect is now messing with me as well but anyway long-story short, seems like they hinted there were a few close calls but they finally nabbed him.

One thing I wanted to mention is that I had never given up hope they would one day catch Yaser. The only thing is I let that photo influence me too much into changing my mind and thinking he was now in Egypt (in addition to his fugitive sister being located there as well).
So while I hadn't given up my attitude was "he's in Egypt but just give the FBI a little more time to make some sort of deal with them and he should hopefully be extradited in a year or two." I was optimistic that would happen.
I am very pleasantly surprised that while I was right to be optimistic, he turned out to be hiding in relative plain sight instead.

Same here - I didn’t think the government of Egypt would particularly be happy about an FBI “most wanted” fugitive residing there, although he is a citizen there as well and it can be difficult to convince countries to extradite their own citizens to face prosecution in other countries, as we suspect may be happening with Alexis Flores and Esnel Jean.
I think it’s possible he continued to travel to Egypt occasionally to visit his sister even while he was a fugitive under a fake passport/identity. So I think it’s possible or even likely the man in the photo was him, unless there is another member of their family who looks like that.

It pretty makes sense why there were plenty of articles during 2019 saying they believed Yaser Said was in North Texas, because of what transpired 3 years ago at that apartment and since it had been some time after that incident investigators probably lost track of him by then and asked for the public’s help.
Heck If the FBI only would’ve gotten lucky in August 2017 to have captured Said..... they would have had 4 captured fugitives at the time had Yaser been nabbed then..... Luis Macedo, Robert Van Wisse, Walter Yovany Gomez and Yaser Said had he been caught in August 2017.

They get to do whatever they want but you don't get to do what you want and if you step out of line, they have the right to kill you.

Egypt has been better then other countries in the Middle East when it has come to giving back fugitives. If he had run off to Saudi Arabia etc. however...likely a different story. Thank goodness we don't have to worry about any of that.

That 911 call has always haunted me as well, especially since they played it at the beginning of basically every media or crime show ever done on the case. Same here. You can tell it's being made by someone who knows she isn't going to make it and is trying to do everything she can to ensure justice was done for her and her sister. Sarah screaming "It's not over!" and "Stop it!" Poor Sarah. She suffered. It's like she always knew some day her dad could kill her. They never even had a chance from the moment they were born.
