Law enforcement officials are still seeking the whereabouts of Earl A. Valentine, Jr., 45, in connection with the shooting death of his 15-year-old son and the shooting of his wife, Keisha Valentine, between 1:30 and 2 a.m. this morning. The shootings occurred at a residence on Hyco Street in Norlina.
Norlina Police Chief Taylor Bartholomew told the newspaper that Earl Valentine went to the Hyco Street home of his wife and son early this morning and kicked in the door to gain entry. He was seen leaving the scene in a black SUV.
Bartholomew said that there was a prior domestic violence protective order in place because the suspect had previously threatened his wife, but that the order had expired. He said that Mrs. Valentine moved to Norlina to try to get away from her husband, whom the police chief said has a history of domestic violence.
Bartholomew said that the Valentines’ family members gave him Earl Valentine’s phone number when he spoke with them as part of the investigation. The police chief said that when he called the number, Earl Valentine answered and admitted guilt as part of the conversation.
Valentine also admitted guilt in a real-time video post online. In the video he says that his wife “deserved what she had coming.” Valentine also admits to being “very sick for months” and says “this is something I could not help.”
Mrs. Valentine remains in critical but stable condition in an area hospital, Bartholomew said.
Jamica Whitaker, director of communications and public engagement with Warren County Schools, told the newspaper that the teenager who was killed was a 10th-grade student at Warren County High School, but was unable to confirm his name. Counseling services have been made available at the high school for any student in need, she added.
Bartholomew reported that Earl Valentine has relatives in Virginia and South Carolina and is believed to be anywhere between the South Carolina/Georgia state line and the Virginia state line. Valentine’s direction of travel is unknown, and Bartholomew said he should be considered armed and dangerous.
According to law enforcement reports, Valentine has threatened to kill the rest of his family. An arrest warrant has been issued for first-degree murder.
“He’s a dangerous man, and I hope nobody else gets hurt,” Bartholomew said.
Anyone with information on Valentine’s whereabouts is asked to call Bartholomew at 919-729-4508 or the Warren County Sheriff’s Office at 252-257-3456.

Thoughts? This is a man who killed his teenage son and tried to kill his wife and then apparently BRAGGED about it on a Facebook live video. Anyone this sick in the head needs to be considered extremely dangerous, so if you know where Valentine is, don't approach him, but do the right thing and call police immediately.
