On Aug 17, 2012, Doroteo Chávez was driving while intoxicated in his Muncie, Indiana neighbourhood. He then drove right over two-year old Alexandria Nelson who was playing in front of her home. As a result of the impact, Alex had fractured ribs, along with severe damage to her wrist and knee, causing her to be coughing up blood. As Alex was screaming in pain, Doroteo drove back to his home where he was arrested by local police. Thankfully, Alex survived and the local community rallied for a fundraiser to aid in her recovery.
As for Doroteo Chávez, this was his third DUI arrest in Indiana. He was let out on bond and used that opportunity to start a life as a fugitive. Family members of Doroteo were seen by his neighbours moving things out of his home the weekend that he fled.

Thoughts? Doroteo Chávez is my 50Case/50State profile out of Indiana. This sadly shows that everyone is at risk of impaired drivers, including young children who are simply playing outside their home like Alex. Doroteo is a serial DUI offender so we are certain that he won't stop this reckless type of behaviour. We really need to find this scumbag! The only hurdle I see and we've seen this before, is getting fugitives wanted for vehicular homicide/assault charges extradited from Latin American countries if Doroteo fled to Latin America as well?
According to the Delaware County Sheriff's Department website: Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Doroteo Chávez should contact the Delaware County Sheriff’s Dispatch at (765) 747-7878. You may also leave a tip on the whereabouts at (765) 747-7885 ext.420. DO NOT try to apprehend them yourself, as they should be considered armed and/or dangerous.
