The 2010 murder of Special Olympian Danny Perez still remains unsolved three years after the tragic crime. The case was aired on AMW in 2010 and 2011.
On Mar 12, 2010, authorities in Miami, Florida say someone shot and killed Danny Perez while he was riding on his bicycle. Authorities only know that the shooter was believed to have also been on a bicycle at the time of murder. Even though Danny was a developmentally disabled Special Olympian, authorities haven't been able to come up with a motive or even a detailed description of the shooter. It should be noted that according to the AMW airing, Danny was peppered with eggs a few days before the murder around the same location where he was murdered, John Turchin said that investigators couldn't link the two crimes. It's quite possible that Danny was targeted because of his disability by either a bigot or a hate group.
I remember how personally John Walsh took this case and I even thought it had a chance of making his 2010 top 10 list as an Unknown fugitive slot.
I don't really know what to think but if I remember the AMW airing, it seemed as someone was following him. I do think there has to be a connection between the guy who peppered him with eggs and the murder. Too coincidental there. If there were two separate incidents of someone targeting Danny because of his disability, it makes me really sad for humanity.
