On Feb 9, 2006, 29-year old Sonia Mejia was at her Taylorsville, Utah home when an unidentified intruder raped and strangled her to death. Sonia was six-months pregnant and her unborn fetus also died. On Feb 9, 2008, 57-year old Damiana Castillo was murdered in her West Valley City, Utah apartment. DNA evidence linked the two cases together and investigators announced they were looking for a Hispanic male in his late teens to early 20s. Despite that, the killer has never been identified.
Thoughts? I'm surprised that this investigation never even made amw.com as a web exclusive story. As for why no further attacks have been linked after 2008, since I doubt he's quit victimizing women (these people do not stop) he may not be in the United States at the current time or he may be in prison on an unrelated offense. If he hasn't since killed, then it's only a matter of time before he does which is why time is of the essence to identify this monster and bring him to trial for the murders of Sonia, her unborn fetus and Damiana.
Based on archived law enforcement websites, our advice for anyone with information regarding this unidentified perpetrator should be forwarded to the Unified Police in Utah at 801.743.5900 or [email protected]

Sadly it seems the only way these guys ever get identified is after they rape and/or murder another victim, finally get caught, and the DNA matches up. Let's hope he's caught before that scenario happens. (If sadly it hasn't happened already)/
