I think Barrera would probably have to be on the FBI website itself for that to happen. If they add him in the future, it increases the chances. Personally, I would add him to the list regardless.

Yeah, I get that point. Keep in mind, they have added people recently who weren’t even on the site (Walter Williams, Juan Elias Garcia, and even William Bradford Bishop come to mind). What worries me about Barrera, assuming he did commit the 2011 murder, he’s escalating in his crimes - and I doubt he’ll stop at just one murder.

IMO his family has been helping him stay on the run. If he's put on the FBI Top Ten list,it could put pressure on them to give him up a la Brenda Delgado.

Personally, Barrera's only wanted for questioning and I've always had some debates about his name being brought up with Randi Gorenberg. I'm not saying Barrera's not a bad guy or that he hasn't killed people (he was only wanted for attempted murder as a teenager, but he likely "graduated" by now), but A) Maybe for some reason he pissed off fellow gang members and that's why they named him after reading about the case in the news or his name was brought up by some to get out of their own legal peril, so you have to question their credibility. and B) The murder of Randi Gorenberg doesn't really seem to fit Barrera's M.O. albeit his types of crimes may have changed over the years. Barrera was known for like home invasion robberies and as a gang member. Gorenberg was a 52-year-old suburban woman abducted and thrown out of a van. Still, it is still obviously important to question Barrera about Gorenberg since enough people have named, so the top ten list would still help in that aspect.

Actually, I re-read our thread on Barrera and theczar thinks it may have been just one informant who named Barrera- so that would really make you question his motives. But my memory was AMW saying his name was repeatedly brought up so I'm not sure. Regardless, he needs to questioned about her and even the Nancy and Joey Bocchichio case as well.

It very well could be other folks have their own motives for fingering him in the killings, whether he did it or not. If nothing else,he needs to be brought to justice for the crimes we know he has committed.

If he was involved, then it was certainly under the directions of someone else. I just don't see someone like him who is already a fugitive committing a murder(s) of complete strangers out of the blue unless it was at the behest of someone else.

Basically the take away from the article I posted, is that the FBI will add fugitives with little known publicity and knowing that their addition will help lead to their capture thanks to the public.
They referenced that El Chapo wasn’t added since he was high profile and was already being pursued by the DEA, however we all know that on April 12, 2018 the 2nd part is misleading since the FBI added DEA Fugitive Rafael Caro-Quintero.
The first part is true as we all remember back in 2017 when Steve Stephens, the guy who shot a man on Facebook live, was added to the FBI site on the murders section the same day Bhadreshkumar Patel was added to the FBI Top Ten. At the time Patel replaced Terry Strickland and Robert Van Wisse’s spot stayed vacant, Stephens’ case was already high profile and there was no need to add him. The Stephens case wasn’t referenced in the article but, it’s something we could remember and have an idea on why he never made the list. The other example I could give is the Boston Marathon Bombers, they were high profile, but never made the list despite having a slot open in April 2013 (Eric Toth would be captured days after one of the Tsarnaev brothers was captured alive)
Also the FBI doesn’t add certain fugitives with ongoing investigations or if they think their addition will compromise the investigation, which is a very interesting one. There’s many names that are deserving on the FBI website and make you wonder why they haven’t been added.

The Tsaranev brothers was a breaking news case as well- if after a few weeks it may be one thing but breaking news cases with some rare exceptions usually don't get added to the list since most of time they're thankfully resolved before the need.
The list is mainly for fugitives who have been on the run at least two months (that is a very liberal estimate since it's usually longer,) or longer.

It’s still very curious as to why the FBI hasn’t taken Robert Levinson off as case of the week yet.
Scumhunter was thinking there could have been an addition on Thursday, but there’s also a possibility the FBI may make an addition sometime next week. (Usually the FBI Makes a Top Ten Addition in April)
Or it could be that Levinson’s case is seen as a priority since he’s now the American who has been in captivity the longest.

I hope this doesn't come across wrong but I'm not really worried about the top ten list at the moment. There's no one I'm clamoring for them to add and I feel the list is a good place with two open spots. I'm just going to sit back and enjoy the ride and focus on In Pursuit until after their season ends.

Lately we’ve been talking about Edgardo “Eddie” Luis Perez being a strong candidate for the list, but personally I have a heavy hunch that Kevin Lamont Carter may be added to the list. Again I’d be okay with anyone making the list since the wait has been too long now, but for some reason when I think Top Ten contenders lately, Carter is the first that comes to mind.
