I'm not trying to discredit him, but the list selection is a process and probably started even before his taking over.
I'm sure he's doing a good job as he's basically from the Mueller era in the early 2000's even though he went into private practice later on.

I'm assuming the FBI will make the next 2 additions next week maybe since the FBI already released an FBI This Week podcast.

It's actually pretty much what I've been saying already that a panel picks the fugitive (but to be more specific it's the "Fugitive publicity unit."
But thanks and nice to have it officially explained!

Haha no it's ok. But what it does explain is the general criteria of the panel of possible reasons for selection (seems it could be just one reason or all three reasons in many cases)
1. Is it someone they've been going after for a while with no luck so far?
2. Is it someone with a high likelihood of committing the same crime again?
3. Is it someone that added publicity would definitely help with?

* Getting the obvious out of the way, the FBI added 9 recent fugitives and that’s as many fugitives that have been added on the run from the 1-10 years period, so the recents clearly dominate.
* The FBI took a hiatus from adding any fugitives on the run for 1-5 years from 2014-2017 with Bhadreshkumar Patel being the possible comeback fugitive.
* Since 2014 with the addition of Yaser Said, the FBI has added more fugitives on the run from 5-10 years with the core being on the run for 6-7 years.
* All the fugitives on the run 5, 6 or 7 years and have made the list early on in the decade, were late 2000s fugitive with only the year 2017 (overall going into the late 2010s) switching over to early 2010s fugitives as of the latest addition of Santiago Mederos.
* The FBI seems to add cold case fugitives every 2 years. In 2012, 2014 and 2016.
* The FBI added fugitives from Los Angeles, Baltimore, Milwaukee, Chicago and Dallas (Texas overall) more than once over the course of the 2010s.
* Newark and Seattle Added fugitives for the first time since the 1980s leading us to believe that other Field Offices that haven’t made additions at all or that already have made one Addition during the 2010s, will get picked

Nice job! Also sort of changing subject a little but I'd be a little patient when it comes to the next addition because the las Vegas shooting is obviously top priority trying to figure out at the moment. I realize it's a media panel that chooses the top ten list and so it's sort of a separate entity, but they may want to focus the bulk of media attention at the moment to the full investigation into Stephen Paddock if he had accomplices etc... Not to say they might not add a guy next week anyway, but just be patient if they don't since no disrespect but the Paddock investigation is more important at the moment.

Sorry for the late response, I am now just seeing this. But yes it has been a very difficult week with the Vegas shooting and the FBI has their hands full currently.

The fbi hasn’t posted an “FBI This Week” podcast yet on Alex Castillo, so perhaps there may be another addition later this week.

I was on the fbi site last night (that rhymes) and I noticed that only 4 fugitives Added in the last 10 years (2007-2017) were child crimes fugitives.
Jon Schillachi was molested a boy while his parents gave him a place to stay after serving a prison sentence for the crime he was being sought for
Edward Harper was wanted for molesting a homeless mothers child and a girl who lived in the neighborhood where he lived
Eric Toth was a prominent teacher at the cathedral school in Washington D.C. and found inappropriate images on his camera.
Walter Lee Williams was a prominent University professor who also had inappropriate images and traveled to other countries to prey on children.
The recent trend indicates that teachers accused of child crimes will be more likely to be added, the individual with a prior criminal record against children staying at a house with a child and the innocent neighbor or friend, since they are more closer to children and can flee to other countries to reoffend and they are unsuspecting.
