No I agree it's not much of a crapshoot anymore. They basically did what the Marshals did the year they removed three fugitives after a list that was stagnant with captures (Mauricio Melendez and John Vu were two, there was one other whose name I'm blanking on now). They felt they needed a fresh start. And it's a much better list with newer names and more catchable and recent fugitives (Van Wisse isn't really recent of course, but he's also not as cold a case as it may seem on the surface, imo).

Gerald Hemp was the other I think.
But yeah I feel more relaxed with the way the Top Ten list looks now, I'm more comfortable that Van Wisse isn't as cold as ice.
I'm glad with whose currently on the top ten and I'm hoping they can be caught and bring in another batch of fugitives.

As many of you already know, today the 512th fugitive to be added, Terry A.D. "Photo-shy" Strickland was caught in El Paso, Tx this morning. The video is also on YouTube and said some very colorful things to photographers while being escorted to the jail in El Paso to be booked.
Turns out Strickland was caught by a citizen who reported a tip last night of him being in the area and the FBI along with the El Paso police department, prepared to arrest Strickland by pulling him over at 5:13am. His capture is the first of 2017 and the 480th for the FBI Ten Most wanted list.

We all called it. Strickland didn't last long.

I would love to see Dan Hiers added to the top 10. I know he is on the Marshals list, but this guy needs as much attention as possible.

Right now the one fugitive I think will land on the Top Ten list if not caught, is breaking news fugitive Markeith Loyd.

With Van Wisse's capture/surrender, it makes it 481 captured total for the FBI, and 2 captures for 2017. Already better than 2016 😊. Honestly a great day it was especially on my last day of the 1st semester.
Now with 3 slots open, who do you guys think will take the FBI Top Ten's 3 open slots?
A few candidates I have:
*Jacob Maldonado
*Bhadreshkumar Patel
*Ranger Lacy
*Danielle Renee Ware
*Caris E. Ayala
*Jerod Watson
*Gerardo Cruz-Hernandez
*Ruben Perez Rivera
*Jorge Agustin Vazquez
Any thoughts?

It's a total guessing game at this point. Director Comey is staying on with the new administration so it should still be the same type of list we've seen under his leadership the past few years. It should be noted most of the new additions were added to the list shortly after they made the overall website. (Ruben Perez Rivera would actually be more likely at this point baaed on that.) Most of your candidates have been on for a decent amount of time.
Also, Jerod Watson is not currently an FBI case. He could wind up on the Marshals list instead for all we know.

You actually bring up a good point about Ruben Perez Rivera and recent additions to the site, it's the same thing with Macedo and Van Wisse.
Lacy was added 5 months ago and perhaps Comey will add his first Crimes against children fugitive.
Patel would be added in order to have him there for this spring or summer in time for the Hunt.
Jacob Maldonado I mentioned because maybe they'd go back to the cold case route and would like to close that case the same way as Van Wisse.
Watson being a Marshals Case then disqualifies him.

I don't know who is handling the Watson case- only that he isn't on the FBI site.

Oh okay. But back to the Top Ten list, this is the first time in 7 years that the FBI has had 3 fugitives listed as captured on the current most wanted list, as I've said on the other thread, removing one September 1983 fugitive with another and getting an unexpected result really made everything better than 2016.
This capture once again proves the list works and that there is hope for other Top Ten fugitives to be caught. This case, should give hope to millions of families in the similar situation and hope justice can come soon, I'm content with Lourie Stout's family getting justice finally, it was just 43 days ago that they were at that press conference hoping that someone would speak up about his whereabouts.
Now the contenders of the Top Ten. for right now Bhadreshkumar Patel, Ruben Perez Rivera and Ranger Lacy are my main contenders for the list, Perez Rivera was swayed even more thanks to you changing my opinion. 😊

I just want to stress you should be happy when any fugitive is caught, they all have a victim if guilty of the alleged offense and that victim has a family. For example, we have a few forum-Exclusive murder suspects with the last name of Flores. But as much as I want Alexis Flores caught, if it was one of the other Floreses I wouldn't go around going "I wish it was Alexis instead." I'd just be happy one victim got justice and would hope Irina DeJesus's time would come soon also. But I agree with you on everything else.

Okay so I got a pretty good question from a good friend who is curious to know about the Top Ten list and wanted me to publicize this on here.
His question was "since there are 3 captured fugitives on the current FBI Ten most wanted, will they replace them faster now with the 3 open slots, or will they let them sit for awhile on the site?"
Well from my experience of knowing the list, the last time this happened was in 2009 after Jorge Lopez Orozco was caught on 10/7/09 it only took them 12, 13 and 14 days to replace him with 3 other fugitives, but keep in mind, former Fugitives Edward Harper, and Emigdio Preciado were already listed as captured since July of that year.
Now to your question could it happen faster in 2017?
The answer is I don't know, as much of an expert I may be, I honestly don't know when the new additions will be named, it could take up to a year to replace all 3 of them.
In recent years the FBI has added fugitives in March, April, May, June, September, and December, so id wait till those months for FBI Top Ten additions, but who knows they could come out of the blue or they come faster than expected, again it's just a guessing and waiting game.

Whoever is added first will be the first under the new administration. Once again I only get political in off-topic, just saying it will be an interesting footnote.
