Fugitive Profile as of August 24th, 2014 (based on New Jersey State Police most wanted website, FBI archives): AKA: Azikikwe E. Onipedo, Arthur L. Washington. Jr. DOB: 11/30/49 Height: 6' 1" Weight: 180 lbs Hair: Black Eyes: Brown Complexion: Dark Race: Black Marks and Scars:- Scar: Left & Right Wrist - Scar: Upper Right Leg Who to call if you've seen him: New Jersey State Police Most Wanted 1-800-437-7839, or try tips.fbi.govSince Scumhunter did Joanne Chesimard yesterday, I decided to add another radical fugitive, who was also part of the same organization as Chesimard. Arthur Lee Washington is wanted for the 1989 attempted murder of a New Jersey state trooper during a traffic stop. Washington and another man were pulled over due to an expired inspection sticker. When the officer approached the vehicle, Washington got out and walked away. Ignoring orders to come back, Washington pulled out a .45 automatic and fired at the officer, who returned fire. When the officer ducked to reload, Washington had fled. Washington was added to the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list shortly after the shooting. He had served time for robbing the mayor of Neptune, New Jersey with a shotgun in 1972, as well as a gas station in 1982. It was revealed he had several ties to black militant prison groups, as well as several black nationalist groups, including the Black Liberation Army. He was removed from the list back in 2000 after they decided he no longer fit the criteria for the list. Several rumors came about that Washington had contracted HIV, and may have died from AIDS. This came from the fact that he was a drug user with track marks all over his arm. In one article I read, they FBI mentioned they hadn't received any leads or tips since 1993. In my opinion, if the FBI confirmed that he did indeed have AIDS, then he most likely is dead, since its been about 13 years since he was removed from the list, and I doubt he would survive that long. But if the AIDS rumors are just rumors, I could picture him being overseas, like many other BLA members are. Thoughts? I don't know if those AIDS rumors are true but what I do know is if the FBI adds Joanne Chesimard to its' terrorist list 40 years later but removed Washington from its top 10' for nearly the same crime and situation (except in this case the officer survived) tells me they must really think he's dead.

No updates but wanted to bump this up since it has been five years since we last discussed Washington. I feel it is pretty safe to assume he is still at large as of this update (7/26/2018) considering he was once on the FBI's top ten list. Of course, if anyone has any updates/proof-of-updates in the future, they are always more than welcome to let us know.

I doubt Washington is alive. The tips vanished beginning in 1993, and they didn’t have any solid leads after that. Chemokine HIV drugs really didn’t come onto the market until the mid-90s, and assuming the tips dried up in 1993, that makes sense, because if Washington was infected in 1989, the average HIV/AIDS patient only survived a few years. My guess is he’s a John Doe somewhere.
Although attempted murder of a State Trooper is a very serious offense, shooting at and missing them isn’t the worst act of violence against law enforcement ever seen. I think the real reason they wanted Washington on the list was because he was closely tied to prison gangs and other violent gangs.

I noticed that the with the eight cases the FBI selected to publicize as part of police week (violence against members of law enforcement), Arthur Lee Washington was not mentioned. By comparison, JoAnne Chesimard and Donna Borup have been given publicity this week.
This makes me feel that the bureau has concluded Arthur Washington to likely be deceased and that media attention isn't going to get his remains located. He could very easily be a John Doe on Doenetwork, or for all we know, he could have died in Cuba or a similar country. If the latter is the case, then it would be virtually impossible to officially close this case.

The FBI selected these cases to profile....... they also didn’t mention Timothy Coombs who is actually on the FBI Site. I think the latter is likely since he hasn’t been seen in the U.S. and he hasn’t yet come up as a John Doe yet.
