I understand this case is a web-exclusive case but I'm unclear as to whether website-only cases are also permitted on this section of the forum. Scumhunter if that's not the case then you can do anything you want with this thread.
Anyway back on October 1, 2003, 16-year old Monica Carrasco disappeared from her aunt and uncle's house in Balmorhea, Texas (pop. 435). Monica had previously been hospitalized for depression and anorexia following her father's death from bone cancer in 2000. It is believed that she left the residence at night wearing a nightgown with no shoes and possibly carrying her bible. It is possible that she became disoriented from her medications and left the house as a result.
So 10 years later and almost nothing to work with. A bus driver who alledgely harassed Monica earlier that year was ruled out as a suspect in her case. However, one of her uncles (probably Abel Baeza) failed a lie detector test in connection to her case. It's highly unlikely that she would run away, especially barefoot because of the rugged terrain of West Texas. She may have communicated with someone on the internet but couldn't Law Enforcement simply check her computer and verify that (especially if it was a family one)?
Something I found interesting that other missing person forums kinda overlooked is that Monica's two uncles were prominent people in Balmorhea and Reeves County, Texas. Abel Baeza (the uncle Monica was staying with) was a now former city secretary for the community while Rosendo Carrasco is a Justice Of The Peace in Reeves County. I'm always suspicious when a missing person or fugitive has ties or relatives with connections to governments. It brings up the question as to whether Monica's disappearance was somehow directed at either Abel or Rosendo or Reeves County. While other forums have mentioned Abel and Rosendo being related to Monica (through news articles), there may be another prominent relative out there; a "Luis Carrasco" served as the Reeves County attorney from 2001 to 2005 before being charged with theft and misappropriation of funds.
This also begs the question if everyone close to Monica has been truthful regarding her disappearance. I understand the controversy between suspecting someone of wrongdoing based on a lie-detector test, however if any family member likely knows more information than they're revealing, then it's probably Abel Baeza and his wife (keep in mind they were the last people to see Monica).
It also should be thrown out there that Balmorhea is somewhat close to the Texas/Mexico border near Ojinaga and Ciudad Juarez.
