Profile Info for Ryoko Uchiyama (Suspected Abductor) and Melissa Hinako Braden (Missing child):
From The FBI's website:
"On March 16, 2006, Ryoko Uchiyama is believed to have left California with her one-year-old daughter Melissa Hinako Braden. Uchiyama was involved in a custody dispute with the child's father at the time. Uchiyama and Braden are believed to be currently residing in Japan.
A warrant for child custody deprivation was issued for the arrest of Uchiyama by the Superior Court of Los Angeles, County of Los Angeles, on March 27, 2006. A federal arrest warrant was issued on May 15, 2006, by the United States District Court, Central District of California, after Uchiyama was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution."
Thoughts? This is a unique child abduction case since basically the suspected abductor is living openly in plain sight in Japan. ABC traveled to Japan in 2011, found Ryoko pretty much right away, and she pretty much admitted to lying to get out of the country and pretty much laughed about how easy it was. Because of Japan's refusal to get involved child custody battles, there is nothing much Melissa's father can do at the moment. I'll still include numbers you can can call with my admin notes (I'll also link to the article above those notes.), but it seems here unfortunately the only way to get Melissa reunited with her father is for him to fight it out in court, which he says he will do.
