Not only is the window closing but the trail has been very cold for a long time.

Yeah I agree it is hard to be hopeful and you can't expect 100% of fugitives to not get away. Thankfully, most don't get away with it, but there will always be a small percentage that slip through the cracks, even wanted for terrible crimes like Bishop is accused of. I am an eternal optimist but I also do have to be realistic and say if he's never caught/confirmed deceased, the best we can hope for is karma and that Bishop did not have as fun a life for himself as he had planned after going on the run. (Not to get too religious here, but I've always felt whether or not there's an afterlife, there is such a thing as karma.)

Unless the case could be solved in 300 years when some kid is playing in their backyard and says "omg mommy what's that? Mom: oh that's a skull sweetie, better call the Hover-cops. Then maybe through dental records they'll solve the case, but again there may be no way to identify him after all that time. Realistically the window is very limited and my hope has been fading for some time now and it's hard knowning he's almost 81 years old and still nothing has come up despite being an FBI Ten most wanted fugitive.

It really eats away at me that this thing is not going to get solved.

It really eats away at me that this thing is not going to get solved. It sucks, and while it doesn't make up for it, all I can say is for every Bishop there's a John List or an Alexander Hill or a Paul Merhige who also brutally murdered families and didn't get away with it (or a Shane Miller who killed themselves afterwards and thankfully authorities found the body). Unfortunately, Bishop had to be the one "lucky" one so far. (And technically Robert Fisher so far if he didn't commit suicide after his alleged killings).

DB Cooper, the Zodiac killer, and Bishop are the three cases I want solved the most. While DB Cooper didn't do anything as heinous as Bishop and Zodiac, I find the story fascinating. There is also a missing person case in my native New Zealand that I would love to be solved. Peter Douglas Coop, who went to the same high school as me, although many years earlier. A fascinating case with evidence suggesting he staged his disappearance. www.police.govt.nz/missing-persons/listings/peter-douglas-coop

Really cool, I wish I had of thought of something like that in the past. I still have the New York Daily News from when The Hunt "captured" Charles Mozdir but that's about it lol.

Also, just out of curiosity, but since Bishop has been bumped up again, just by a show of hands, I'm curious how many people thought the Scottsboro Alabama John Doe would actually turn out to be Bishop? Not to brag, I've been wrong before but feel I've been right on this forum more often than I've been wrong when it comes to fugitive sleuthing/predictions , but I honestly thought it would turn out to be Bishop and I definitely got that one wrong lol. In my defense, when such a tragic case like this hasn't been solved for 40 years, it's pretty easy to get your hopes up when even a glimmer of a chance suddenly pops up.

I actually had thought the Scottsboro John Doe would have been Bishop as the similarities were just astonishing and it wasn't far from the Great Smokey Mountains National Park, so yes I had my hopes up as well and thought Bishop was going to go down as a deceased fugitive, but again, little over 2 years since then, we were all wrong and the hunt for Bishop continues.

The one guy who said from the jump it wasn't going to be Bishop was Officer Bruno. Obviously we should have listened to him lol. But from what I understand the FBI even excavated the body TWICE. That's how much he resembled Bishop.

I would have been shocked had the John Doe been Bishop.

Ok you and Officer Bruno I should have listened to lol.
I know some of the physical characteristics like height and weight didn't match up. Its just the face looked so much like Bishop in my opinion and I reasoned maybe body decay or something might be a reason for the shorter height of the John Doe. But a las I think I did let false hope cloud my judgment.
(I also do feel bad for whoever the Scottsboro John Doe was. It seems no one cares about him now that they know he's not Bishop.)

Today marks 3 years since Bishop was added to the FBI Top Ten list.
