UPDATE: On December 22nd, 2017, Ronald Lyons surrendered after 26 years on the run!Ronald Lyons is wanted for multiple charges of child pornography and possession of drugs. Lyons was a high school teacher for about 5 years. Police received a tip that Lyons was growing marijuana in his basement. They entered his house based on a year-old traffic warrant they had on him regarding expired tags. When serving the warrant, they found a small bag of marijuana on the table, Lyons then gave them permission to search his house. In the basement, they found several half-grown marijuana plants. They also found hundreds of photos and video of nude and seminude teenage girls. Some of them were current students of his. In 1987, he was tried, convicted, and sentenced to 9 years in prison. He was let out on an appeals bond, but in 1990, his conviction was upheld. In 1991, he failed to show up to begin serving his sentence. On a sad note, Melody Teague was a 15 year-old student of his, and allegedly one of the girls he photographed. Detectives interviewed her, but she refused to confirm that Lyons photographed her. She eventually realized she would probably be called to testify against him. Two months after Lyons was arrested, Teague committed suicide by hanging. In 2008, Interpol requested information regarding Lyons, such as extradition issues, photographs, and fingerprints. This led many to believe that Lyons had been arrested in Paris. However, Interpol confirmed he had not been arrested, but that if he was, they'd be able to properly identify him. What do you guys think? He's more than likely in Europe, probably France still, especially if Interpol is requesting information. Lyons was aired on AMW between 1993 and 2000 by the way. I agree that he's residing somewhere in Western Europe, probably working in some sort of teaching field.

Thanks. I knew 2000 was his last airing, but I didn't know when his first airings were. Also, the fact that he may be teaching again should make him a top priority.

No new case updates but I checked the Tulsa Police warrants page and officially verified that Ronald Lyons still has a warrant out for his arrest.

Like HeadMarshal, I also did a search of Lyons and he still has a warrant on file. Should be noted his date of birth is 7/26/1951 which would make him 66 years old as of this posting date (11/27/2017): www.tulsapolice.org/content/warrants.aspx?

Someone registered saying they wanted to post about the capture of Ronald Lyons. Sorry to beat them to it (even though I approved their registration), but out of curiosity did some research to confirm and indeed, out of nowhere, Ronald Lyons turned himself in yesterday! According to a Facebook posting from Lori Fulbright of News on 6 Tulsa, it is not known where Lyons has been hiding, but he turned himself in because he got "tired of moving around." What unexpected but great news!! www.kjrh.com/news/local-news/tulsa-county-man-behind-bars-after-being-on-the-run-since-1991

Wow! Thankfully Ronald turned himself in, albeit after more than two decades. I will be really curious if it ever is revealed as to how he spent his life on the run.
It also begs the question, if AMW had aired him after 2000 or at least added him to the 2004-2012, could they potentially have caught him?

This is still somewhat a breaking news story, but hopefully we'll learn some more details. I guess AMW could have caught him had they aired him again, but he looks nothing today like he did back in the late 80's/early 90's-ish. But perhaps the pressure of the airings could have forced him to surrender anyway, we'll never know. For all we know, he still felt the pressure because he'd still see his name on our site every time he googled himself:)

Glad that he turned himself in - hopefully we get to hear more details about his years on the run considering we hadn't heard anything since the erroneous reports of his capture in 2008

There is more to this man than people realize. Everyone focused on the on girl who committed suicide. He had a another student who lived with him after he was arrested and she graduated from BA. He didn't want her to leave him because she had too much info on him. I was her sister and I know he had many places that he lived to hideout. He also supported himself by selling massive amounts of marijuana. A house his mother built had a hidden room upstairs where he grew it and then eventually he built an underground bunker to grow it because he had so much. His "friend" would come by and pick it up and sell it for him. This all happened shortly before and after he jumped bail.

Hi horton123,
Thanks for joining our forum. It would not surprise me to hear this or other stories or that Lyons was even worse than initially thought. Although since he's already convicted, I'm not sure if this would ever manifest itself in court.
While I'm glad he's in jail now and some justice will be served, his sentence was 10 years right? He really should never see the light of day again if you ask me.
I hope if anything is out there that could put him away for good it can be revealed if it isn't too late.
