From the Charley Project:
Bianca was last seen on January 12, 2005. She was abducted by her non-custodial mother, Elfarida Damanik, two weeks after custodial rights were given to Bianca's father, Robert McConnell. A photograph and vital statistics for Elfarida are posted below this case summary. They are believed to be in Jakarta, Indonesia; Indonesia is where Elfarida was born. She has work experience as a nanny.
Bianca's parents never married and their romantic relationship last only a few months. McConnell stated he had heard from Elfarida since she abducted the child; she has allegedly called and emailed him repeatedly to request money, but she refused to let him contact Bianca or tell him her exact whereabouts.
There are warrants out for Elfarida's arrest for interference with custody and international parental kidnapping, but Indonesia will not recognize an American custody order. Bianca's case remains unsolved. Macedonia, Ohio police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) are handling the case.
Thoughts? I've said it before and I've said it again- and I know I sound like a broken record- but parental alienation, abduction, etc. is a crime. And I find it significant Elfarida was denied custody BEFORE she went on the run. Often that only happens after a parent disappeared. The fact that Elfarida is requesting money from the same man she took her child from also suggests Bianca may not be living a perfect life in Indonesia. Unfortunately, it seems the FBI's hands are tied in this case since Indonesia will not recognize an American custody order. Which is a shame because of the dangerous precedent set- you can abduct your children and prevent him/her from seeing his mother/father, just pick the country or your home country and you'll be fine.
