Remember when one of the detectives in this case warned that the composite might not be accurate? Reason I say that is the hair in the undated photo is a little off, and plus, he isn't wearing glasses. Not only that, the witness in TN said he spoke with a "Northern" Accent, but he was from Arkansas.
The sketch if you take off the glasses maybe a little matches Brashers but nothing like "wow" so I agree. Witness identification isn't always the best, and the cause of many wrongful convictions. (Brashers would have been entitled to a trial had he been alive, but it's a moot point in this case since he obviously is/was the guy).

You have the same person run by five different people from a distance and they'll give you five different descriptions. Eyewitnesses identification is a useful tool for solving crimes but by itself, it's not enough IMO.

A somewhat update on this. I watched The Genetic Detective episode and Cece Moore actually found a Facebook photo of Brashers (on his daughter's Facebook) that looked exactly like the sketch and same hat as well- which helped further convince her she had the right man.
Still, it doesn't take away from the fact eyewitness identification can be often unreliable, even if this case doesn't apply.
