John D. Miller has plead guilty and will be formally sentenced on December 31st. The plea agreement calls for him to serve back-to-back sentences of 50 years for murder and 30 years for child molesting. Personally, I've been on the record that I'm *usually* against the death penalty, but only because of the potential for an innocent person to be put to death because of it. This is a case where I would have made an exception and said this guy needs to f***ing die, but I like the idea of Miller spending what will likely be the rest of his life in a prison where everyone there knows what he did. I still wouldn't condone anything happening to him that's against the law, but let's just say I wouldn't shed a tear either. www.journalgazette.net/news/local/courts/20181208/aprils-killer-pleads-guilty

In the general prison population, the other inmates' greatest wrath is usually reserved for those who sexually assault children, but how often do they spare the lives of those convicted of sexually murdering children?

He'll probably be put somewhere away from general population, but that doesn't always save a prisoner...

This may sound a bit weird but didn't I read months ago that they planned to sentence him in February of 2019? Why did someone suggest that they sentence him on the eve of the last day of 2018?

He was scheduled to go on trial in February. Because of the plea deal, there is now a sentencing hearing instead This was explained in the link I posted with that news. In the future, if you have a question with a post and there is a link in the same posting, please click on it as may answer your question before you need to ask it.

I am personally against it, too, but Miller poses a huge risk to society in my opinion. Kind of surprised that he is being pled to 80 years - April’s mother wanted him executed.

Just found out that the sentencing trial has been bumped up to 12/21/18, apparently the judge who's going to sentence this a**hole is retiring 12/31/18. Looks like this judge will get to end his career with a bang dash ending.

Just a note that while it's great to see justice, April was a sweet and innocent girl who was completely unfairly brutally murdered.
This case is still a tragedy and not something to celebrate even though the killer is convicted.
However, we can now be satisfied that April will soon receive justice and she did not die in vain and the efforts of her loved ones and detectives in capturing her killer also were not in vain.

CASE CLOSED: 80 years in prison. Like I said, it won't bring April back, but glad to see we have official final justice.

Another case that shows justice can be delayed but never denied. RIP April, the monster who killed you will now pay for his crime and you can finally be at peace.
