KELSO VALLEY, Calif. - Sheriff Donny Youngblood held a press conference Tuesday IDing the man who he says is responsible for the death of a dentist and the injuring of two KCSO deputies.
Youngblood said the man they are searching for is 34-year-old Benjamin Peter Ashley.
Youngblood said that they discovered fingerprints and DNA that may link him to the crimes.
Crews have been canvassing the Kelso Valley area for Ashley who is wanted in connection to a series of brutal crimes that include kidnapping, murder, and the shooting of two SWAT deputies.
Ashley is described as Black, 5 feet 11 inches tall weighing 180 pounds with brown hair and hazel eyes.
Youngblood said that Ashley has been arrested multiple times and was last arrested in Bear Valley Springs, Merced as well as Glendale.
“On Oct. 19th 2014, Benjamin Peter Ashley was reported as a suspicious person. Officers ran a check on his name and it came back with a $30,000 warrant out of Glendale – the charge was resisting an officer. Benjamin Peter Ashley was arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail," Chief Jeff Kermode of the Bear Valley Police Department said.
At the time of the arrest he showed no ties to the community and was listed as homeless.”
The search began July 28.
The Sheriff’s Office has established a 24 hour TIP LINE. If anyone has information on Ashley or his whereabouts they are asked to call the TIP LINE at 661-392-4360.
Thoughts? Keep in mind the murder of the dentist and shooting of the Sheriff's Deputies are just two crimes Ashley is wanted for. He's believed to have possibly committed even more crimes and has a history of arrests. This has been added to the site as a breaking news case. I'm not sure how much this site can help since it's pretty much just trying to find a guy in the woods in a specific area where the residents pretty much already know about this case, but the gravity of the situation and national media coverage this case has received does deserve the breaking news addition.
