According to online articles, anyone with information on the whereabouts of Juan J. Ruiz is asked to call Columbus police at 614-645-4767.
Additionally, any further information or physical description or news-related (non-tip related) regarding Juan Jose Ruiz can be forwarded to us at amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

Juan Jose Ruiz was an illegal immigrant living in the United States and had racked a 2011 conviction for speeding and driving without a license. On Oct 27, 2014, Ruiz's inability to drive properly would prove deadly when he turned off his car's headlights in the middle of night and drove well over the speed limit, causing him to crash into another car on a Columbus, Ohio interstate. 37-year old David Hertz, a computer technician who suffered from depression but had started a close friendship with a female co-worker, died in the collision. Investigators believe that Ruiz was drunk when he crashed into Hertz's vehicle. One day later, Juan Jose Ruiz posted a $50,000 bond and fled, possibly to Mexico.

Thoughts? The latest article regarding this case just appeared on my google news feed and I decided to bring the case to this forum right now. People reading this have the right to be angry that an illegal immigrant convicted of a crime was not initially deported and as a result, David Hertz was killed. Now authorities have to probably find him in Mexico and see if Mexico feels like extraditing Ruiz for failing to stop after an accident or whether they'll try him in their nation.

UPDATE from site admin: I could not find any new articles in the three years since HeadMarshal first posted this case. As far as I can tell, Ruiz is still at large as of this update (7/28/2018), since I haven't found anything online suggesting otherwise. However, if anyone has any updates/proof-of-updates one way or the other, they are always more than welcome to let us know.
