While an arrest warrant is still out for a Stroudsburg man who did not show up for sentencing after being convicted of sexually molesting a 12-year-old girl, the girl's family and friends are trying to raise money to hire a private investigator to find the man.
The girl's mother said the family is asking for community donations via www.gofundme.com/justiceforalicia (link no longer works) to hire an investigator, as well as support for legislation to keep convicted sex offenders in jail until their sentencing dates.
Authorities still have an arrest warrant out for Edwin Antonio Rosario-Aquino, 20, of Stroudsburg, who did not appear for his Oct. 16 sentencing after a jury convicted him in July of molesting the girl in the summer of 2011, when she was 12. The girl told her mother about the molestation after her family moved out of Creekview Apartments in August 2011, and her mother then contacted Stroud Area Regional Police, according to trial testimony.
Rosario-Aquino was out on bail when he did not appear for sentencing. His bail was subsequently revoked and a warrant was put out for his arrest.
Anyone with any information on Rosario-Aquino's whereabouts is asked to call police at 570-421-6800 or the Sheriff's Office at 570-517-3312.

Thoughts? At the age of 18, it was determined in a court of law that Edwin molested a preteen child. Who knows how many more children Edwin will victimize in his lifetime if not caught and brought back to Pennsylvania in order to serve his sentence.
Something else I want to bring up is releasing felons on bail AFTER they are convicted. This is done from what I've seen in order for felons to get their personal affairs in order before going off to prison. However, why can't the authorities arrange for one of their own to get the affairs work taken care of instead of allowing a person convicted of a violent felony on the streets.
