There is a $20,000 reward being offered by the FBI for the apprehension of Bhadreshkumar Chetanbhai Patel.
Bhadreshkumar Patel is wanted for allegedly killing his wife Palak Patel while they were both working at a Dunkin Donuts' shop in Hanover, Maryland. According to various media reports, he allegedly beat and/or stabbed his wife multiple times with a sharp object and then fled the scene. The murder happened on April 12th, 2015.
A local arrest warrant was issued in the District Court of Maryland for Anne Arundel County on April 13, 2015, and Patel was charged with first degree murder, second degree murder, first degree assault, second degree assault, and dangerous weapon with intent to injure. A federal arrest warrant was issued in the United States District Court, District of Maryland, Baltimore, Maryland, on April 20, 2015, after Patel was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution.
Shortly after the incident the authorities developed information that led them to Newark, New Jersey, where a taxi driver says she drove him. This seemed to be confirmed after Patel was seen on surveillance footage at a Best Western near Newark International Airport the day after he allegedly murdered his wife.
Patel is believe to still have his India-issued passport with him, however, it investigators believe he is likely still in the states for a few reasons. They have no evidence that he boarded a plane and the FBI put a hold on Patel’s passport, preventing him from crossing the border.
Patel was born in India and was in the United States legally on a visa, but his visa expired at the end of March, according to the FBI.
Thoughts? If Patel is unable to flee the country, I can see him hiding out in New York City. Although I do find it interesting Interpol is now involved. He could have somehow had a fake ID or passport, or somehow got a flight out the country in the limited window of opportunity he had.
