Fugitive Profile as of February 21st, 2015 (based on AMW archive, US Marshals wanted poster): Sex: Male Race: White Date of Birth: 11/24/1982 Height: 6'6" Weight: 180 Hair (Color, Description, Facial Hair): Brown Eyes: Brown Other Phys. Characteristics: Friends say Jackman walks with slumped shoulders, which gave him the nickname "Lurch." Scars and Tattoos:-"18" tattoo on left ankle -Heart shaped tattoo on left shoulder -Tattoo on upper left arm -Cross tattoo on inner right shin Last Seen: Orange , VT Other Possible Locations: Jackman is known to have associates in the Keene, NH area Prior Convictions: Sexual Assault, Barre, VT; 2002 TIPS: Anyone having any information on Jackman's whereabouts should contact the US Marshal's Service at 1-877-WANTED-2Phillip Jackman was aired on AMW's April 19th, 2008 AMW 50/50 special as their fugitive out of Vermont. He was one of the few fugitives from that very successful show to still have not been caught. Below is the archived description of his case: Convicted Rapist Flees ProbationerCourt documents obtained by AMW tell the tale. Philip Jackman's probation officer wrote in a report, "I feel that Jackman poses a significant risk to the community as well as himself." The problem is, that was written in 2004, and Jackman is still on the loose. Philip Jackman knew his future did not look bright. On August 18, 2004, he went to see his probation officer. He was on probation for sexually assaulting an ex-girlfriend in 2003. For that crime, he was sentenced to between eighteen months and ten years in prison. But, a judge suspended all but 60 days of that sentence, essentially telling Jackman if he behaved, he wouldn't have to go to prison for a decade. At the 2004, hearing he found out his current girlfriend was coming in to give a statement alleging he had brutally raped her as well. Realizing that he could go away for a long time, police say Jackman left the office and headed to his home on Morris Drive in Orange, Vt. He took a ten foot rope, and drove along the dirt roads, eventually getting out of his car. Officers feared he would try and hang himself, but by the time cops searched the woods, Jackman was nowhere to be found. Now, the U.S. Marshals are hunting this convicted rapist, and need your help. The only clues to go on are his multiple tattoos and the fact that he has known associates in the Keene, N.H. area. Thoughts? Of all the 50/50 fugitives in 2008, you'd think Jackman would have actually been one of the ones caught over some of the others. There are good clues such as tattoos and mannerisms, and it's known where some of his associates are. Yet he's still not there. This is just me speculating but part of me wonders if being based in the Northeast he decided to flee to Canada. It should also be stressed that although Jackman is technically only wanted for parole violation, he is a dangerous predator. He was already convicted of one sexual assault, and his girlfriend was about to report one more. Getting him caught, like today, no rush , would put a lot of people's minds, especially the good people of Vermont's minds, at ease. web.archive.org/web/20100805233949/http://www.amw.com/fugitives/brief.cfm?id=54725#briefwww.usmarshals.gov/district/vt/fugitives/pdf/jackman.pdfAdmin Note: If you have any updated information on this case, please contact us here: amwfans.com/thread/1662/website-contact-form

Just so I'm clear, did they find the 10-foot rope and determine with 100% certainty that Jackman did not hang himself?

Excellent point! I can't believe I didn't think of that. I've been off this week. I feel like Dr. House getting a rare diagnosis wrong this week. (Or to quote the Simpsons getting three incorrect diagnoses before figuring out the final correct one lol). I don't think they ever did. I will update if I ever find out what the situation was with the rope.

Damn HM looks like you called it, very impressive!!!!!
Much like Paul Winklebleck, he hasn't officially been declared dead yet, but once he is, we'll move him to the captures section.

While I appreciate people wanting to help, we've already acknowledged Jackman's presumed dead body and the problem is he can't officially be declared deceased until law enforcement confirms. But just people don't think we didn't already know I'll give this a "Presumed Deceased" in parenthesis and move this to the captures section. Once it's official I'll then remove the "Presumed".

Hello huntress1978 and welcome to the forum. I didn't find any press releases by law enforcement but I did find mention of a memorial service for a "Phillip Edward Jackman" that was held one week after these remains were found. The date of birth for the Phillip Jackman there is exactly the same as the fugitive so I am pretty certain this has to be the same guy. www.legacy.com/obituaries/timesargus/obituary.aspx?n=philip-e-jackman&pid=176190652

What is really bizarre here is Jackman was entered into Namus just two months after his remains were said to be found: www.findthemissing.org/en/cases/31623/26These presumed remain cases are so frustrating. The problem being there's no articles or law enforcement declarations saying officially that Jackman is deceased. I have seen numerous fugitive cases where the media reported on the initial finding only with no updates since. In September 2013, AMW fugitive Desi Woods remains were supposedly found, and if it wasn't for me finding his social security index on ancestry.com, this forum would have never known for sure as no official updates were provided since that time. It sometimes takes a while to declare a fugitive dead. AMW fugitive Paul Winklebleck's remains were found in December of 2014 but not confirmed until October of 2015. (Ironically the same month as Jackman's possible remains were discovered). It seems many news stations/websites report on the possible findings, but never bother to update when it's actually confirmed. Unfortunately, online SS death indexes only go up to 2014 at the moment, and as I mentioned above, Jackman was possibly found in October of 2015. With all due to respect to them, the family members of a fugitive's claims can not be taken as official. There has to be either a news article or someone with an official law enforcement e-mail like usmarshals.gov or something like that e-mailing us to let us know that Jackman is dead. Jackman is only in the captures section because I was tired of people e-mailing the website to let us know he's deceased when I had him in the fugitives section. He is technically considered still at large and can only be assumed deceased until proven otherwise. Unfortunately, this may be one of those cases where we can assume the fugitive died, but have no way of ever officially knowing. Come to think of it, I don't think even Dennis Lilly was ever officially declared deceased either.

Glad to know we can remove the presumed and that there's now closure to this case.
It was obviously likely him all along, but sometimes dead bodies take a while to confirm.
