"When Waco Police first encountered Mike Gutierrez, they thought he was just a bumbling crook. Believe it or not, he broke into a neighbor's house and held a couple at knife point, believing they were drug dealers. When they convinced him they were not drug dealers, cops say he made himself at home, raiding the fridge and hanging out until cops showed up to arrest him. But while he was awaiting trial on his bizarre home invasion, cops say Gutierrez sexually assaulted a 15-year old who was babysitting his kids. This time when cops came for him, he ran out his back door, across the yard of the people he had previously invaded, and got away."
The above was the AMW radio profile of, in my opinion, one of the most bizarre cases in AMW's Lifetime/final season, aired on October 5th, 2012 as an APB on their penultimate episode. I'm not sure if 2012 is the wanted year or not since I couldn't find much online. His AMW archive is available but it's from the latter part of that season when AMW started deliberately shortening them. So needless to say I was shocked when I was finally able to confirm Gutierrez is still actually wanted.
This is a guy a deputy marshal on the show (who I now know as Anton Slavich thanks to Pakman ), said looked like a bumbling idiot at first. Combine that with the weird fridge raiding incident and you'd think he wouldn't be that hard to catch.
But so far, Gutierrez has somehow managed to stay one step ahead of the law.
Thoughts? He's still probably in Texas, but Mexico is of course always a possibility. Especially considering you'd think Gutierrez would be pretty recognizable.
UPDATE: While Gutierrez was still wanted at the time of posting (10/16/2014), nearly four years have passed at the moment (this update is on 7/19/2018). Please double check he's still wanted but do call authorities and/or Waco Crime Stoppers if you know his whereabouts.
