Yeah those age-enhanced photos look nothing like him at all. Makes you wonder why he turned himself in.
My opinion is the pressure got the best of him, or he had a change of heart and decided it was the best thing to do. Honestly 26 days into 2017 and we have 2 captures, He made everyone's lives easier by turning himself in.
Article about the tense wait for Van Wisse to surrender. Authorities thought he maybe wouldn't show or they didn't recognize him at first (they had no photos since the 1980's), but he identified himself upon crossing.
Also the article reminds us that Van Wisse still has to go on trial, so only one part is over.

Apparently Van Wisse had been negotiating with his attorneys and authorities about his surrender for weeks prior. He was living in central Mexico for sometime, it's not clear where or for hong long, but FBI agents were waiting for him and he approached the agents and one agent said "are you ready to turn yourself in??" (Classic) and Van Wisse had been taken into custody once he stepped onto the U.S. Side
